4. Cookies

We use cookies on our website. These are small files that your browser automatically creates and that are stored on your end device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when you visit our website. Cookies do not cause any damage to your end device and do not contain any viruses, Trojans or other malware. Information is stored in the cookie that results in each case in connection with the specific end device used. However, this does not mean that we obtain direct knowledge of your identity.

On the one hand, the use of cookies serves to make the use of our website more convenient for you. For example, we use session cookies to recognise that you have already visited individual pages of our website. These are automatically deleted after you leave our site. In addition, we also use temporary cookies to optimise user-friendliness, which are stored on your end device for a specified period of time. If you visit our site again to use our services, it is automatically recognised that you have already visited us and which entries and settings you have made so that you do not have to enter them again.

On the other hand, we use cookies to statistically record the use of our website and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimising our offer for you (see section 5). These cookies enable us to automatically recognise that you have already visited our website when you visit it again. These cookies are automatically deleted after a defined period of time.

The data processed by cookies is required for the purposes mentioned to safeguard our legitimate interests and those of third parties in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. Most browsers accept cookies automatically. However, you can configure your browser so that no cookies are stored on your computer or a message always appears before a new cookie is created. However, completely deactivating cookies may mean that you cannot use all the functions of our website.

5 Analysis and tracking tools

The tracking measures listed below and used by us are carried out on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. With the tracking measures used, we want to ensure a needs-based design and the continuous optimisation of our website.

On the other hand, we use the tracking measures to statistically record the use of our website

and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimising our offer for you. These interests are to be regarded as legitimate within the meaning of the aforementioned provision. The respective data processing purposes and data categories can be found in the corresponding tracking tools.

a) Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc (https://www.google.de/intl/de/about/) (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; hereinafter referred to as ‘Google’), for the purpose of designing and continuously optimising our pages to meet your needs.

This information may also be transferred to third parties if this is required by law or if third parties process this data on our behalf. Under no circumstances will your IP address be merged with other Google data. The IP addresses are anonymised so that they cannot be assigned (IP masking).

You can prevent the installation of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser software;

b) Google Adwords Conversion Tracking

We also use Google Conversion Tracking to statistically record the use of our website and to evaluate it for the purpose of optimising our website for you. Google Adwords places a cookie (see section 4) on your computer if you have reached our website via a Google advert.

These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. Each Adwords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked via the websites of Adwords customers. The information collected using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for Adwords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Adwords customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their advert and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.

If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can also refuse the setting of a cookie required for this - for example, by using a browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies. 6. Social media plugins

We use social plugins from the social networks Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on our website on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR in order to publicise our law firm. The underlying advertising purpose is to be regarded as a legitimate interest within the meaning of the GDPR. Responsibility for data protection-compliant operation must be guaranteed by the respective provider.

We integrate these plugins using the so-called two-click method to protect visitors to our website in the best possible way.

a) Facebook

Social media plugins from Facebook are used on our website to personalise their use. We use the ‘LIKE’ or ‘SHARE’ button for this purpose. This is an offer from Facebook. When you visit a page on our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection with the Facebook servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted by Facebook directly to your browser, which integrates it into the website.

By integrating the plugin, Facebook receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have a Facebook account or are not currently logged in to Facebook. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there. If you are logged in to Facebook, Facebook can directly associate your visit to our website with your Facebook account.

If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the ‘LIKE’ or ‘SHARE’ button, the corresponding information is also transmitted directly to a Facebook server and stored there. The information is also published on Facebook and displayed to your Facebook friends.

Facebook may use this information for the purposes of advertising, market research and customising Facebook pages. For this purpose, Facebook creates usage, interest and relationship profiles, e.g. to analyse your use of our website with regard to the advertisements displayed to you on Facebook, to inform other Facebook users about your activities on our website and to provide other services associated with the use of Facebook.

If you do not want Facebook to assign the data collected via our website to your Facebook account, you must log out of Facebook before visiting our website. The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook as well as your rights in this regard and setting options to protect your privacy can be found in Facebook's data protection information (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/).

b) Twitter

Plugins of the short message network of Twitter Inc (Twitter) are integrated on our website. You can recognise the Twitter plugins (tweet button) by the Twitter logo on our site. You can find an overview of tweet buttons here (https://about.twitter.com/resources/buttons).

When you visit a page on our website that contains such a plugin, a direct connection is established between your browser and the Twitter server. Twitter then receives the information that you have visited our site with your IP address. If you click on the Twitter ‘tweet button’ while you are logged into your Twitter account, you can link the content of our pages to your Twitter profile. This allows Twitter to associate your visit to our website with your user account. We would like to point out that, as the provider of the pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or its use by Twitter. If you do not want Twitter to be able to associate your visit to our pages, please log out of your Twitter user account. Further information on this can be found in the privacy policy

of Twitter (https://twitter.com/privacy).

c) Instagram

Our website also uses social plugins (‘plugins’) from Instagram, which is operated by Instagram LLC, 1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA (‘Instagram’). The plugins are labelled with an Instagram logo, for example in the form of an ‘Instagram camera’. When you visit a page on our website that contains such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to Instagram's servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted by Instagram directly to your browser and integrated into the page. Through this integration, Instagram receives the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have an Instagram profile or are not currently logged in to Instagram.

This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly from your browser to an Instagram server in the USA and stored there. If you are logged in to Instagram, Instagram can directly associate your visit to our website with your Instagram account. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the ‘Instagram’ button, this information is also transmitted directly to an Instagram server and stored there.

The information is also published on your Instagram account and displayed to your contacts there. If you do not want Instagram to assign the data collected via our website directly to your Instagram account, you must log out of Instagram before visiting our website.

Further information on this can be found in the privacy policy (https://help.instagram.com/155833707900388)

of Instagram.

d) Google+ social plugin

We use the plugin of the social network Google+ (‘Google Plus’) on our website. Google+ is an internet service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter referred to as ‘Google’. Through certification in accordance with the EU-US Privacy Shield https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active Google guarantees that the data protection requirements of the EU are also complied with when processing data in the USA.

The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in improving the quality of our website. Further information about the possible plugins and their respective functions is available from Google at https://developers.google.com/+/web/. If the plugin is stored on one of the pages you visit on our website, your Internet browser will download a representation of the plugin from Google's servers in the USA. For technical reasons, it is necessary for Google to process your IP address. The date and time of your visit to our website are also recorded.

If you are logged in to Google while you visit one of our websites with the plugin, the information collected by the plugin about your specific visit will be recognised by Google. Google may assign the information collected in this way to your personal user account there. If you use the Google ‘Share’ button, for example, this information will be stored in your Google user account and possibly published via the Google platform. If you wish to prevent this, you must either log out of Google before visiting our website or make the appropriate settings in your Google user account. Google provides further information about the collection and use of data as well as your rights and protection options in this regard in the data protection information available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

e) Google Maps

We use Google Maps on our website to display our location and to provide directions. This is a service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter referred to as ‘Google’. By being certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active, Google guarantees that it will follow the EU's data protection regulations when processing data in the USA. In order to enable the display of certain fonts on our website, a connection to the Google server in the USA is established when our website is accessed. If you call up the Google Maps component integrated into our website, Google stores a cookie on your end device via your Internet browser. Your user settings and data are processed in order to display our location and provide directions. We cannot rule out the possibility that Google uses servers in the USA. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in optimising the functionality of our website. The connection to Google established in this way enables Google to determine from which website your enquiry has been sent and to which IP address the directions are to be transmitted. If you do not agree to this processing, you have the option of preventing the installation of cookies by making the appropriate settings in your Internet browser. Details on this can be found above under ‘Cookies’.

In addition, the use of Google Maps and the information obtained via Google Maps is governed by the Google Terms of Use https://policies.google.com/terms?gl=DE&hl=de and the Terms and Conditions for Google Maps https://www.google.com/intl/de_de/help/terms_maps.html. In addition, Google offers further information at https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated and also at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

f) Google reCAPTCHA

We use Google reCAPTCHA on our website to check and prevent interactions on our website through automated access, e.g. by so-called bots. This is a service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter referred to as ‘Google’. Through certification in accordance with the EU-US Privacy Shield (‘EU-US Privacy Shield’)

https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active

Google guarantees that the data protection requirements of the EU are also complied with when processing data in the USA. This service enables Google to determine from which website a request is sent and from which IP address you are using the so-called reCAPTCHA input box. In addition to your IP address, Google may also collect other information that is necessary for the provision and guarantee of this service. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the security of our website and in the defence against unwanted, automated access in the form of spam or similar. Google offers further information on the general handling of your user data at https://policies.google.com/privacy

We use YouTube on our website. This is a video portal of YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave, 94066 San Bruno, CA, USA, hereinafter referred to as ‘YouTube’. YouTube is a subsidiary of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA, hereinafter referred to as ‘Google’. Through certification according to the EU-US Privacy Shield (‘EU-US Privacy Shield’)

https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Active

Google, and thus also its subsidiary YouTube, guarantees that the data protection requirements of the EU are also complied with when processing data in the USA.

We use YouTube in connection with the ‘extended data protection mode’ function in order to be able to show you videos. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in improving the quality of our website. According to YouTube, the ‘Enhanced Privacy Mode’ function means that the data described in more detail below is only transmitted to the YouTube server when you actually start a video. Without this ‘extended data protection mode’, a connection to the YouTube server in the USA is established as soon as you access one of our web pages on which a YouTube video is embedded.

This connection is necessary in order to be able to display the respective video on our website via your Internet browser. In the course of this, YouTube will at least record and process your IP address, the date and time as well as the website you have visited. In addition, a connection is established to Google's ‘DoubleClick’ advertising network.

If you are logged in to YouTube at the same time, YouTube will assign the connection information to your YouTube account. If you wish to prevent this, you must either log out of YouTube before visiting our website or make the appropriate settings in your YouTube user account.

For the purpose of functionality and to analyse user behaviour, YouTube permanently stores cookies on your end device via your Internet browser. If you do not agree to this processing, you have the option of preventing the storage of cookies by changing the settings in your Internet browser. You can find more information on this above under

‘Cookies’. Google provides further information on the collection and use of data as well as your rights and protection options in this regard in the data protection information available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
